Pilot License Validation

For us to be able to start the process of validating your foreign pilot license in order to get a foreign based South African pilot license, we need to provide information to the CAA. Please fill in this form completely in order for us to be able to move forward. Once this information is processed by us and the South African CAA, you will have to to an airlaw theory exam and a checkride with an instructor once you arrive in South Africa. After that, the South African CAA still needs several days to process the results and issue you the license.

    We need quite a few documents in order to start the validation process to acquire a foreign-based South African pilot license.

    Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter South Africa.

    Make sure your medical is not about to expire as it will delay the process. If it is about to expire, provide us with the medical and arrange to get an updated medical immediately.

    We need a digital copy of a passport picture to provide to the CAA for them to use with your South African pilot license.

      The last 5 pages of your pilot logbook should be added ideally in PDF format or in JPEG format.
      Please select each of the aircraft types in which you have PIC time of at least 2 hours and which time is recorded in your logbook. In South Africa, the CAA looks at each aUircraft model as a separate type. In Europe and the US a class rating is used and it contains all the aircraft within its class. For you to be able to fly a rental in Southern Africa, you need to have flown that specific aircraft before as PIC or you have to do a familiarisation training in South Africa on arrival.
